Our Mission

Sunday Vacations Brussels is a community-driven cultural and social initiative powered by UJAMAA ASBL.

​

Based in Brussels, we bring together locals, newcomers, and international residents through shared experiences focused on connection, cultural exchange, and exploration.

We facilitate community activities such as hikes, cultural visits, social gatherings, and occasional cross-border meet-ups. Sunday Vacations operates within a non-commercial associative framework and does not function as a travel agency. When activities involve external providers (transport, accommodation, or tours), participants engage with them directly and independently.

Through our trips, we aim to build a strong, welcoming community while contributing to positive social impact.

In the long term, we want our activities to help fund creative, youth-led tourism initiatives in underrepresented regions - supporting young storytellers and guides who promote their local areas in authentic and inspiring ways.

By traveling together, we believe we can do more than just explore - we can help amplify new voices, create lasting connections, and foster a more meaningful kind of adventure.

Association Status

Sunday Vacations is a project operated by UJAMAA ASBL, a nonprofit association registered in Belgium under company number 0475.052.055.


Our activities foster cultural exchange, inclusion, and accessible travel for all, with a focus on building community among locals, newcomers, and international residents.

Over time, we intend to reinvest part of our resources into supporting young people from underrepresented regions - especially those working to promote their communities through storytelling, sustainable tourism, and creative expression.

UJAMAA ASBL acts in accordance with its statutes and embraces values of social cohesion, solidarity, youth empowerment, and intercultural dialogue.

ℹ️ What is an ASBL?

ASBL stands for Association Sans But Lucratif - French for Non-Profit Organisation. In Dutch, the term is VZW – Vereniging Zonder Winstoogmerk.

Under Belgian law, an ASBL/VZW:

  • cannot distribute profits to members

  • must reinvest all resources into its activities

  • operates with registered statutes and a governing board

  • exists to serve a social, cultural, educational, or community purpose

Sunday Vacations is managed by UJAMAA ASBL, meaning all resources directly support the community and its activities.
